People love horse racing. It involves a lot of money and is one of the most watched sports in the world. But horse racing as a sport has also been plagued by drugs and it is not ethical or right. But it seems that drugs will not be around for much longer thanks to organizations taking initiative.
This was announced by the Breeder's Club. They announced that drugs like Lasix will not be used on 2 year olds starting 2012; also, all horse racing events of the Breeder's Club are to go drug free starting 2013. Everyone was waiting for someone or the other to take initiative to ban drugs in horse racing events. Lasix has harmed the sport. Most people believe that horse racing is a sport which is corrupted by drugs and most of the time the best drug wins the race rather than the best horse. Also, it is speculated that Lasix has a lot to do with why horses have never raced less frequently.
The Breeder's Club has taken a huge step and is heading this movement. This is what was missing from horse racing. What they can do is, start horse rescue charities rather than non-racing charities and later on, support bigger causes.
